Turkey e-Devlet Social Media Age Verification: How It Works
Turkey’s social media age limit of 15 starts on 1 November 2026 and age verification will run through e-Devlet. This guide separates what is already clear from what is not yet, and will be updated as the service opens.
What is already clear
- The regulation was published in Official Gazette no. 33396 on 10 October 2026.
- It takes effect on 1 November 2026. From then, under-15s cannot open new accounts.
- The deadline for age verification of existing accounts is 31 March 2027.
- Age verification will be done through e-Devlet.
What is the age verification token?
Under the regulation, the user creates an age verification token in e-Devlet and uploads it to the social network platform. The token carries no identity details. It only shows whether the person has passed the 15 and 18 age thresholds, so the platform can confirm the age requirement without learning your name, ID number or date of birth.
What happens depending on the result?
| Verification result | What happens |
|---|---|
| Under 15 | Cannot open a new account. An existing account is closed after notice. |
| 15-17 | Separated service for children: private by default, live streaming and personalised ads off, parental controls on. |
| 18 and over | No extra restrictions. |
What is not yet clear
- The launch date of the e-Devlet service and the exact screens and steps.
- How each platform will ask for verification in its own app and how much time existing accounts will get.
We will update this page as these points become clear. Check the last updated date at the top.
